The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of DPPC was held on Tuesday, July 7, with the participation of the company’s majority shareholders. The meeting highlighted the company’s strong return to sustainable growth, profitability, and strategic development following one of the most challenging periods for Iran’s pharmaceutical industry.
Opening the meeting, Saeid Hejjari, CEO of DPPC, emphasized the extraordinary circumstances under which the company achieved its latest results.
“The past year was marked by unprecedented challenges for the country’s pharmaceutical industry. Alongside the consequences of two military conflicts, the resulting disruptions and damages, constraints in raw material supply, and the need to maintain uninterrupted production, our industry carried a critical responsibility in safeguarding public health,” he said.
Hejjari noted that these events reaffirmed the strategic importance of the pharmaceutical sector.
“The difficult days our country experienced demonstrated once again that the pharmaceutical industry is far more than a manufacturing sector. The continuity of medicine production is directly linked to public health, national resilience, and social stability.”
He added, “Every active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) produced, every production line kept running without interruption, and every medicine delivered to patients reflects the expertise, commitment, and sense of responsibility of professionals across this industry.”
Highlighting DPPC’s strategy during the crisis, Hejari stated:
“At DPPC, we believe resilience is measured by our ability to keep production running, maintain product quality, rely on domestic capabilities, and respond to the country’s healthcare needs. Supported by our skilled workforce, technical expertise, and commitment to improving public health, we will continue this path with confidence.”
Strong Financial Recovery After a Challenging Year
The company’s financial statements for the fiscal year ended March 20, 2026, demonstrate a significant turnaround following the difficulties experienced in 2024.
Through strategic leadership by the Board of Directors, a revised production strategy, greater focus on high value-added products, supply chain optimization, and disciplined resource management, DPPC delivered one of its strongest financial performances to date.
At the conclusion of the meeting, shareholders approved a cash dividend of IRR 1,000 per share, expressing confidence in the company’s performance and future development plans.
Major Improvement Across Key Financial Indicators
Nearly all profitability indicators recorded substantial growth during the fiscal year, effectively reversing the downward trend of the previous year.
- Operating revenue increased 21% to IRR 11.62 trillion.
- Gross profit rose 56%, reaching IRR 3.8 trillion, compared with IRR 2.44 trillion in the previous year.
- Operating profit surged 103% to IRR 2.87 trillion.
- Most notably, net profit climbed 127%, rising from IRR 822 billion to IRR 1.87 trillion, reflecting the company’s successful return to sustainable profitability.
Expanding the API Portfolio with High Value-Added Products
According to the Board’s report, DPPC currently holds 82 active manufacturing licenses, making it one of Iran’s most diversified producers of pharmaceutical active ingredients.
Its product portfolio includes:
- 20 cardiovascular APIs
- 15 anti-inflammatory and analgesic products
- 10 antibiotics
- 9 gastrointestinal and antiemetic products
- 9 central nervous system products
The company has also prioritized the development of low-volume, high-value (LVHV) APIs, including Granisetron Hydrochloride, Brimonidine Tartrate, and Varenicline, while expanding pharmaceutical pellet manufacturing and contract manufacturing services.
Investment in Innovation and Knowledge-Based Products
Research and development remained a key strategic focus throughout the year.
DPPC successfully registered 26 knowledge-based products, enabling the company to benefit from government incentives and tax advantages available to knowledge-based enterprises.
In addition, 14 R&D projects, valued at approximately IRR 250 billion (25 billion Tomans), have entered the evaluation stage for tax credit incentives, which are expected to improve cash flow and reduce tax expenses during the current fiscal year.
Research on 10 new products has been completed, with commercial production scheduled to begin once raw materials become available. Development work is also underway for 10 additional API projects, supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Infrastructure Modernization to Ensure Sustainable Production
Alongside product development, DPPC invested significantly in upgrading critical production infrastructure.
Modernization of the power plant’s cooling towers and reconstruction of steam boilers—with a combined investment of approximately IRR 95 billion (9.5 billion Tomans)—were substantially completed by the end of fiscal 2025. These projects are expected to enhance operational reliability and significantly reduce the risk of production interruptions.
First Pharmaceutical Company to Import Raw Materials by Air in the New Year
During the AGM’s Q&A session, Hejari outlined the company’s raw material procurement strategy.
He announced that DPPC had been allocated EUR 20 million in foreign currency during the previous year, of which more than EUR 17 million had been utilized, with the remaining balance secured during the current year.
According to the CEO, DPPC became the first pharmaceutical company in Iran to import raw materials by air on March 25, immediately placing the shipment into production. As a result, the company currently maintains sufficient inventories to support approximately three months of production, while a new shipment of cardiovascular raw materials is awaiting customs clearance.
Hejjari also revealed that the company is in discussions with the Iran Food and Drug Administration to strengthen support for domestic API manufacturers, a move expected to reinforce local production capacity and protect the market share of Iranian producers.
Prepared for Any Currency Policy Scenario
Addressing foreign exchange policy, the CEO stated that although the preferential exchange rate system remains in place, DPPC has prepared contingency plans for any potential policy changes during the second half of the year, including operations under a competitive market-based exchange rate environment.
He also announced plans for a capital increase aimed at strengthening the company’s financial structure, improving liquidity, and securing additional resources for future production.
A Model of Resilience, Profitability, and Sustainable Growth
DPPC’s performance during fiscal year 2025 demonstrates that the company not only maintained uninterrupted production throughout one of the most challenging periods faced by Iran’s pharmaceutical industry but also successfully enhanced profitability, expanded its product portfolio, modernized production infrastructure, and strengthened supply chain management.
With a 127% increase in net profit, continued investment in development projects, expansion of its knowledge-based product portfolio, reliable raw material procurement, and the approval of a IRR 1,000 cash dividend per share, DPPC has positioned itself as a leading example of resilience and sustainable value creation.
Supported by the strategic leadership of its CEO, Board of Directors, and dedicated workforce, the company has successfully transformed economic and regional challenges into opportunities for long-term growth, shareholder value creation, and continued advancement of Iran’s pharmaceutical industry.
